ArcGIS Explorer -

Interactive Mapping Viewer

1. First download ArcGIS Explorer, you can find a free download here

2. Then download the shapefiles you want below

Shapefiles Available: Island County Parcels

                                          City/Town Limits Boundary

These shapefiles are in a compressed folder due to their large size. These files will need to be extracted before ArcGIS Explorer can use them. To extract them first double click the folder (it will have a zipper on it) then click the link to 'Extract all files.' Once they are extracted and saved on your computer ArcGIS Explorer will be able to open them as a shapefile.

3. Then add shapefiles to the ArcGIS Explorer Program

After this program is downloaded you may add the shapefiles by clicking the 'Add Content' icon and scrolling to Shapefile.

*You may need to change the symbol of the Parcel shapefile from a solid rectangle to an outline.  This can be done by right-clicking the file name in the 'Contents' window and scrolling to symbol, then down to 'outline fill.'  This will show parcel boundaries. You may click on a parcel to get additional Island County Assessor's Data from each parcel.

Several Island County Departments have made kml files available for download at the Island County Mapping Center.

Follow the link to find Island County Geographical Data such as roads, storm water facilities, basin boundaries, parks and several more.

These files can be saved on your computer like the shapefiles, and added to your map by clicking 'Add Content' and scrolling to KML Files.

Check back at the Island County Mapping Center website for updates. We hope to have more shapefiles available soon.
